Prompted by a number of emails asking about Sabrina's pocketpig drawing, here's the scoop. I made a unique exception to my official retirement from DJ'ing, and DJ'ed the issue launch party for To Do List Magazine. My rig consisted entirely of a Sony VAIO laptop computer loaded with Windows 2000 Professional, a Roland Audio Canvas USB sound processor (now marketed as the Edirol UA-3D), and PCDJ Red software. That's right, robots, no vinyl or CDs were on the premises, just a constant stream of uninterrupted, perfect 192Kbps MP3 files. It actually worked out quite nicely. I've worked with PCDJ for a few releases, and as long as it's running on a stable computer, it's a rock sold performer. Given that I was able to easily tote 5-hours of music, and all the necessary gear in my trusty Boblbee, I don't think I'd ever go back...of course, you do give up some tactile control, but one still has complete control over pitch and crossfading, and the looping capabilities of PCDJ are unequelled. My only complaint is, I wish there were a version of PCDJ for OSX. Combined with the ease of iTunes' ripping, and the stability of OSX, it would be ideal.
